Seaweed: Our process

How is it crafted?

Our harvesters venture out in all-weather to handpick the seaweed during their peak growing periods, when the plants are in optimal condition and rich in nutrients. Unlike the standard machine harvesting method, individual plants are cut so that enough remains for regrowth and reproduction. We work in small teams and access the foreshore on foot. And we follow the most stringent ecological regulations to ensure the local ecosystem can continue to thrive. The seaweed is then washed and slowly air-dried at low temperatures to preserve its enzymes and delicate phytochemicals. We also use smaller milling sizes to increase bioavailability.

How is Rosita® different than other seaweed products?

Its rainbow-like blend of green, red and brown algae offers more micronutrients than products with a single type of seaweed (that often have additives), providing a comprehensive, real food nutritional profile. We use red, brown and green seaweed in our five-seaweed blend. For example...

Each type of seaweed contains different antioxidants:

  • Fucoxanthin in brown seaweed.
  • Phycocyanin and phycoerythrin in red seaweed.
  • Chlorophyll in green seaweed.

And, using all three types of seaweed ensures a wide range of essential minerals:

  • Iodine from brown seaweed.*
  • Magnesium and potassium from red seaweed.*
  • Iron from green seaweeds.*

It’s also sustainable, wild, hand-harvested, certified and organic: Certified Organic, Scottish Natural Heritage Approved, PETA Farming Award.
